If you are a professional photographer who would like to volunteer for The Butterfly Wishes Network, then we would love to hear from you...
Requirements:
To become a butterflies volunteer we require the following:
-
A professional standard DSLR or Mirrorless camera with a range of different lenses.
-
Off-camera lighting, such as speed lights and the knowledge of how to use them in a professional way.
-
Editing software such as Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom.
-
The ability to store client data in compliance with Data Protection.
-
A completed application form and signed contract (which we will send to you via email).
-
Public liability insurance. Whilst this is preferable that you have your own, the charity does have a blanket PL that will cover you whilst you are working on our behalf.
Application Process
Once you have sent your completed application, we will:
-
Review your application and portfolio. Due to the nature of our sessions, we need our photographers to be competent in all lighting situations. The admin team who are all professional photographers will be looking through your portfolio for examples where you demonstrate this. This whole process can sometimes take a few weeks, during busy times it may take us longer.
-
Once the team have made a decision, you will receive an email from us letting you know the outcome.
-
If you have not been selected as a BWN volunteer, then please do not let this put you off, we are happy to give case by case feedback if necessary on how/where to improve.
Once You Have Been Approved
After your application has been improved, you will be invited to join our private Facebook group. This is how we notify our photographers of new butterfly families that need our help. We will create a post and tag the nearest volunteer to the family. This is such an important part of our process, if you do not use Facebook or never pick up your notifications then this would result in you missing sessions.
Once a volunteer has been assigned we will then send you all the relevant details to your email. It is then your responsibility to make contact with the family directly to arrange your session.
We ask all of our volunteers to keep us updated by way of email during the whole process, once the session has been completed and you have delivered your images to the family you will then be required to send a copy to us for storage.
The charity asks you the photographer to deliver a minimum of 10 high-resolution digital images to the family, the copyright of these images remains the property of the photographer. However, you grant the family a personal usage licence AND the charity a commercial licence for those families that give us consent.
You must NOT share any images from your session without the express consent of the family, this is something we ask on our application process so please check with the charity before doing anything.
OUR PHOTOSHOOTS ARE COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE.
THE PHOTOGRAPHER MUST NOT ACCEPT PAYMENT FROM THE FAMILY IN ANY FORMAT. YOU MUST ALSO NOT UPSELL ANY PRODUCTS OR PRINTS TO THE FAMILY.
